Microsoft's Antispyware Beta
Welcome
to Gammaw Geek Tutorials
Microsoft has jumped on the band
wagon with it's spyware removal program. I have just recently
started using it and am very impressed with it - so far. It has found a
variety of spyware, trojans and worms on several badly infected
computers that I have used it on. You can download it from the MS AntiSpyware webpage.
It is beta software though and as such, may still have bugs that need to be worked out. The first time I ran it, it froze the computer during the cleaning process. I rebooted and re-ran the program and everything was fine after that. Just keep this in mind it you have any glitches with the program. Another note - this beta program will cease to function after after 7-31-2005. I have not heard if it will be offered free the MS users or if it will be a pay for software. As soon as I know - I will let you know.
Installation is pretty straight forward, so just follow the step by step instructions. Be sure to explore the program for all the hidden settings. I am in the process of doing that now. As soon as I know the program better, I will write it here.
One other note - I am running this program and Webroot's Spysweeper without any conflicts so far. Both start when Windows starts. So far SpySweeper seems to catch things quicker than MS Antispyware.
In a few weeks after using this program for a while, I will update this page and let you know anything new I find.
